What do we mean by "sex"?

Page Title

Throughout Hormone Broadcast, we will be using the term "sex" when talking about various topics in the spheres of reproductive biology and endocrinology. We are referring here to an individual's biological sex and are not making a statement on gender. Biological sex refers to an individual's biology – their chromosomes, anatomy and hormonal profile. We understand that biological sex is not binary and that an individual may have any combination of these three traits. This terminology or approach may evolve over time. Our goal is to be inclusive in recognizing the beautifully diverse biology that exists in humans while making complex biological topics accessible to individuals with different levels of background knowledge.
